Key Insights from Integrate 2025: How AI, Data, and Integration Are Powering Innovation

Why AI Is the Future of Integration — But People Still Matter
Earlier this June, I had the chance to attend Integrate 2025 in London — a flagship event for integration professionals worldwide. The buzz was unmistakable: AI is no longer optional; it’s becoming the foundation of how we build integrations.
Microsoft is clearly pushing AI as the next big wave in integration technology. From the keynote sessions to deep-dive demos, AI-driven tools and workflows took center stage. One standout was Logic Apps’ new Agent Loop feature, which lets AI agents actively participate in workflows — making decisions, transforming data, and automating processes. This marks a big shift: integration is no longer just automated, it’s becoming intelligent.
But here’s the reality check: AI isn’t magic. Microsoft highlighted that about 70% of AI projects fail to reach production, and the biggest bottleneck isn’t the AI itself — it’s the quality and accessibility of data.
This is where people come in. The real power is in combining AI with expert human guidance and solid integration platforms. Microsoft’s Azure AI Foundry and Model Context Protocol (MCP) provide unified access to diverse AI models and data types — but it still takes skilled teams to design, build, and maintain these workflows.
What I Saw at Integrate 2025
At Epical, we’re excited about how Microsoft is evolving Azure Integration Services. Here are some highlights:
- AI Agents are changing the game:
The Agent Loop lets AI models actively participate in integrations, orchestrating workflows that are smarter and more adaptive. - Logic Apps is the future for BizTalk migrations:
Logic Apps Standard, especially with hybrid capabilities now generally available, is clearly Microsoft’s chosen path for migrating and modernizing BizTalk workloads. It’s not just a lift-and-shift but a journey of ongoing innovation — Logic Apps is evolving into a powerful, scalable, and hybrid-ready integration platform. - Empowering developers:
With C# support for code-driven workflows, built-in unit testing, and improved debugging tools, developers get more control and flexibility while delivering faster, higher-quality integrations. - Reusable patterns and templates:
Organizational templates help teams avoid reinventing the wheel and scale delivery with consistent, reusable integration building blocks.
Why This Matters
Integration, AI, and data are converging to create a new standard for innovation. Seamless integration of AI and data isn’t just a vision anymore — it’s rapidly becoming reality. But it still depends on people — skilled professionals who understand both the technology and the business challenges.
At Epical, we see tremendous opportunities to harness these innovations and help clients leverage AI-powered integration without stumbling over common pitfalls. I’m excited to explore these new features and collaborate with teams eager to innovate with confidence.
One interesting note: Microsoft isn’t trying to push developers away from Logic Apps toward Functions. Instead, they want Logic Apps to evolve and handle increasing complexity — making it a true long-term platform for integration needs.
